THE American / ¡overnment has just admitted that many more US troops may have been exposed to Agent Orange than had previously been supposed.

12 million gallons of Agent Orange, which contains the deadly chemical dioxin, responsible for the devastation of Seveso, were sprayed on Vietnam as a defoliant.

The latest revelations, that spray planes in distress dumped their poisonous cargoes over or near US bases and military installations, are causing great alarm. Health Secretary Richard Schweiker, who is in charge of the government's working group on the question said:

"I don't think anyone foresaw that we would be dumping this stuff on our own people."

It's apparently OK for generations of Vietnamese who may not even have been alive at the time of the spraying to grow deformed and damaged. But "our own people"? Whoops!
